ROLE PLAYING GROUNDS
DESIGNING TRANSITIONS BETWEEN LUDIC ACTIVITIES
TYPE: Group Project: Graduate Design Thesis, School of Architecture, Technical University of Crete
TEAM: Konstantinos Tzinas, Ioulia Schoina
RESPONSIBILITIES:
I created the overall framework for the concept, conducted background research and designed the main diagrams that directed the overall layout. Modelled, textured and rendered the entire composition in 3DS Max and illustrated the map in Photoshop. Designed the entire "Machine" section and illustrated all the plans and renders.
SOFTWARE USED: 3DS Max, Photoshop, InDesign, AutoCAD.
"Role Playing Grounds" is a design proposal for a "Mixed Reality Theme Park", set to be designed in an industrial neighborhood of Athens, Greece. My teammate Ioulia and I undertook this project as part of our Graduate Design Thesis to complete our degree in Architecture. The main objective of the project is to combine theories of game design and architecture and produce a space where physical and virtual play converge. By combining different play scenarios, users and technologies, we created a space where competitive play, education and entertainment are experienced as a continuum between physical and virtual spaces, providing a unique experience and a common ground between architecture and game design.
Below, you can find an explanation document, explaining in detail the theoretical background behind the design, as well as the entire project in PDF format. Alternatively, you can view the gallery below with images from the project.
